Interior - Door Trim Panel/Air Vent Trim Scuffing

SUBJECT:
DOOR TRIM / AIR VENT SCUFFING
PURPOSE
The driver's side door trim may interfere with the air vent trim when the door is opened. This interference causes scuffing marks on both the air vent trim
and door trim.
If marks are evident:

Replace the air vent and door trim and to prevent this from occurring again,
^
Modify the new door trim as described in this bulletin.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
2001-02 Montero models produced before 6/20/02
PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the driver's door trim (see page 42-30 of the 2002 Montero service manual).
2.
Using a knife or box cutter, remove 4 mm from the indicated rib on the inside of the new door trim.
3.
Install the new door trim.
4.
Use a trim stick to pry off the driver's side air vent. Replace the air vent.
