SUNROOF DEFLECTOR NOISE
PURPOSE
Excessive wind noise and/or rattling may occur at the sunroof while driving with the sunroof open. This condition is due to the design of the sunroof
deflector and links.
Vehicles produced after 11/19/00 are equipped with the improved sunroof deflectors, but require installation of the improved deflector links.
If a customer complains of this sunroof noise:

On vehicles produced before 11/19/00, replace the sunroof deflector and links.

On vehicles produced between 11/20/00 and 6/13/01, replace only the sunroof deflector links.
New, improved sunroof deflectors and links are listed in the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin).

2001 Montero models produced before 6/13/01 equipped with sunroof
PROCEDURE
On vehicles produced before 11/19/00:
Replace the sunroof deflector assembly and links with the improved parts listed below. Refer to page 42-86 (MEDIC Info # M4260-014-0023-001) in
the 2001 Montero service manual.
On vehicles produced between 11/20/00 and 6/13/01, replace only the sunroof deflector links.
