WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM NUTS
- SERVICE CAMPAIGN
PURPOSE
The existing wiper arm nuts could loosen, causing the wiper arms to get out of time with each other and only wipe a part of the windshield.
Replace the wiper arm pivot nuts with new, redesigned nuts listed in the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
2001 Montero models produced before 3/5/01 (VIN 1J039405).
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
A letter will be sent to all owners of affected vehicles telling them to bring their vehicle to their Mitsubishi Motors dealer to have the windshield wiper
arm nuts replaced.
REQUIRED OPERATIONS
Before starting this procedure, CHECK ON THE WARRANTY SUPERSCREEN to verify that the vehicle is an affected VIN for this campaign and that
this campaign procedure has not already been completed.
Replace the front windshield wiper arm nuts as follows:
1.
Remove the front windshield wiper arm caps and nuts.
2.
Install new windshield wiper arm nuts, using the new, redesigned parts listed in the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin.
3.
Tighten the new windshield wiper arm nuts to 23.5 Nm (17.3 ft/lbs). Reinstall the caps over the nuts.
PARTS INFORMATION
A small supply of wiper arm nuts will be shipped to each dealer automatically. Orders for additional parts can be placed through the normal parts system.
