Vacuum Brake Booster Check Valve: Testing and Inspection

NOTE:  The check valve should not be removed from the vacuum hose.

OPERATIONAL CHECK

1. Remove the vacuum hose. 
2. Check the operation of the check valve by using a vacuum pump.
3. A connection should be made at the brake booster side and a vacuum needs to be created (a) and held.
4. Connect the vacuum pump at the intake manifold side and a vacuum should not be created (b).

CAUTION:  If the check valve is defective, replace it as an assembly unit together with the vacuum hose.
