Montero SR 4WD V6-3.5L SOHC (1997)
2. Loosen the camshaft bearing cap bolt. Do not remove the bolts from the cap.
3. Remove the rocker arm, shaft and bearing cap as an assembly.
4. Apply engine oil to the camshaft journals and cams and then install the camshafts. Use care to prevent confusion of the rear and front bank
camshafts.
NOTE: The right bank camshaft is identified by a slit 4 mm wide at the rear end of the camshaft.
5. Check to see that the dowel pin of the camshaft is located at the position shown.
6. Immerse the lash adjuster in clean diesel fuel.
7. Using the lash adjuster retainer and the air bleed wire tools Nos. MD998441 and MD998441, or equivalents, move the plunger up and down 4 or 5
times while pushing down lightly on the check ball in order to bleed out the air.
8. Insert the lash adjuster to rocker arm, being careful not to spill the diesel fuel. Then use the lash adjuster holder tool to prevent the adjuster from
falling out while installing it.
