Camshaft Oil Seal: Service and Repair
1. Remove the timing belt.
2. Remove the camshaft sprocket using yolk end holder and pulley holding pins tool Nos. MB990767 and MD998715, or equivalents.
3. Cut out a portion in the camshaft oil seal lip.
4. Cover the tip of a screwdriver with a cloth and apply it to the cutout in the oil seal to pry off the oil seal.
CAUTION: Use care not to damage the camshaft and cylinder head.
5. When installing the camshaft oil seal, coat engine oil on the whole circumference of the oil seal lip section.
