Idle Speed: Testing and Inspection
1. Before inspection, set the vehicle to the following conditions:

Engine coolant temperature: 80 - 95° C (176 - 203° F).

Lights and all accessories: "OFF".

Transmission: Neutral (P for A/T).
2. Check the basic ignition timing.
The standard value is 5° ± 3° BTDC.
3. After turning the ignition switch to "OFF", connect the scan tool to the data link connector.
4. Start the engine and run it at idle.
5. Run the engine at idle for 2 minutes.
6. Check the curb idle speed.
The standard value is 700 ± 100 RPM.
NOTE: The idle speed is adjusted automatically by the Idle Air Control (IAC) system.
7. If there is a deviation from the standard value check the MFI components.
