Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation
California
OPERATION
-
The evaporative emission purge solenoid is an duty control type of solenoid; it functions to regulate the introduction of purge air from the
evaporative emission canister to the intake manifold plenum.
-
Battery positive voltage is supplied, by way of the MFI relay, to the evaporative emission purge solenoid. When the engine control module
switches on the ignition power transistor within the unit, current flows to the coil, and purge air is introduced.
