Some child restraint Systems have an upper tether strap. In compliance with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, the 2001 Montero has 3
attachment anchor points on the floor, located behind the second (center) seat. The child restraint system upper tether strap can be secured to any of the 3
second seating positions (2 outer, 1 center) in the vehicle.
UPPER TETHER ANCHOR PROCEDURE
1. Remove the cover from the tether anchor installation point by pulling it back with your hand as illustrated.
2. Latch the top tether strap hook (A) of the child restraint system onto the tether anchor bracket (B) and tighten the top tether strap hook so it is
securely fastened.
