Radio - Noise During Seat Lumbar Adjustment

No: TSB-00-54-008

DATE: July, 2000

MODEL: 2001 Montero

SUBJECT:
RADIO NOISE DURING SEAT LUMBAR ADJUSTMENT

PURPOSE

On some affected vehicles, adjusting the driver's seat lumbar support may cause radio interference while the lumbar adjustment switch is pressed.
Installing an additional wiring harness with a condenser to the lumbar support harness will eliminate this condition. This bulletin describes how to install
the new harness.

Affected vehicles produced since 3/9/00 have an improved lumbar support harness with a condenser to prevent radio interference.

AFFECTED VEHICLES
2001 Montero models produced before 3/9/00 equipped with adjustable seat lumbar support

PROCEDURE

NOTE

It is not necessary to remove the seat.

1.

Turn the ignition key OFF.

2.

To access the harness:

a.

Remove the clips at the bottom of the driver's seat back.
