WHEEL BALANCING
This bulletin supercedes TSB-00-31-003, issued September, 2000, to include additional balancing instructions.
PURPOSE
Due to the design of the 2001 Montero wheels properly installing the tire/wheel balancing equipment cones is extremely critical. The wheel may appear
to be mounted properly, but may not be seated correctly on the balancer cone. Improper cone installation can cause improper balance, resulting in
customer complaint of vibration.
NOTE:
Consult your tire/wheel balancing equipment representative regarding optional size cones that best fit Montero wheels.

PROCEDURE
1.
Identify the wheel type. On vehicles built since mid-August 2000, the hub area of the wheel was redesigned for improved cone positioning. The
redesigned hub is identified by the letter "A" cast into one of the spokes as shown:
