Starter Motor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

2.

Remove air cleaner assembly, if applicable.

3.

Remove intake manifold stay, if applicable.

4.

Remove starter cover, if applicable.

5.

Disconnect starter cables.

6.

Remove starter mounting bolts, then the starter.

INSTALLATION

1.

Before mounting starter, clean the mating surfaces of starter and the engine.

2.

Install starter and torque mounting bolts to 20-25 ft. lbs.

3.

Install air cleaner assembly, if applicable.

4.

Connect starter cables.

5.

Install starter cover, if applicable.

6.

Install intake manifold stay, if applicable.

7.

Connect battery ground cable.
