Ball Joint: Service and Repair
1.
Remove ball joint stud nut.
2.
Using tool MB990778 or equivalent, disconnect ball joint from knuckle.
3.
Remove ball joint dust cover.
4.
Using suitable pliers, remove snap ring from ball joint.
5.
Using tools MB990800 and MB991005, or equivalents, press out ball joint.
6.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. If snap ring does not fit tightly in groove, replace with new one.
b. Apply suitable grease to lip and inside dust cover.
c. Use tool MB990800 or equivalent to drive in dust cover until it contacts snap ring.
