When any of the parts are oily, check any of the oil seals in the front case and the camshaft oil seal for oil leak.

(1) Remove the plug on the left side of the cylinder block.
(2) Keep the left silent shaft from turning by inserting a philips screwdriver 8 mm (0.31 in) diameter into the plug hole.
(3) Remove the nut.

18. Timing belt "B"
NOTE: As with the timing belt, mark arrows to indicate direction of travel on the outside of the belt with chalk, etc.

INSPECTION
Check the belt in detail. If the following flaws are evident replace belt with a new one.
(1) Hardened back surface rubber. Back surface glossy. Non-elastic and so hard that even if a finger nail is forced into it, no mark is produced.
