Brake Shoe: Service and Repair

1. Raise and support vehicle and remove wheel.
2. Release parking brake.
3. Remove brake drum. If drum is difficult to remove, screw in bolt to pull drum out.
4. Remove retainer, return springs, adjuster and shoes, Fig. 6.
5. Remove retainer ring with suitable tool, then separate toggle lever and brake shoe.
6. Reverse procedure to install.
7. Adjust brakes and parking brake.
