Classification:
HA96-004
Reference:
NTB96-054
Date:

1995 SENTRA/200SX AIR CONDITIONING (A/C) SYSTEM SHUTS OFF
APPLIED VEHICLE:
1995 Sentra/200SX (B14)
APPLIED DATE:
Vehicles built before January 11, 1996
SERVICE INFORMATION
During "stop and go" type driving or extended idling in ambient temperatures of 100 deg.F or higher, the A/C system may turn off the A/C compressor.
When this occurs, hot air may be discharged through the A/C vents even though the A/C switch is in the "ON" position. Once the vehicle is driven at
constant speeds, the A/C system will turn the compressor on and the A/C system will operate normally.
A new dual-pressure switch along with condenser and radiator seals have been developed to resolve this incident.

Service Procedure
1.
Interview the customer to determine under what driving conditions the incident occurs:
A.
If the customer indicates that the A/C performance is not satisfactory during all ambient temperatures and driving conditions, refer to the
service manual for proper diagnosis and repair.
B.
If the customer indicates that the incident occurs only during "stop and go" type driving or extended idling in 100 deg. F and higher ambient
temperatures, proceed with the following repair.
2.
Properly calibrate the Kent-Moore ACR4 Recovery/Recycling machine. Ensure the tank platform set screws are tight. (Refer to service bulletin
NTB93-096, HA93-009 for complete ACR4 machine usage information).
