1. While depressing brake pedal, remove wheel bearing locknut.
2. Remove brake caliper assembly and support to frame using suitable wire. Brake hose does not need to be disconnected. Ensure there is no tension
on brake hose.
3. Remove tie rod end from knuckle, Fig. 1.
4. Separate driveshaft from knuckle by slightly tapping on end. Cover boots with a cloth to prevent damage. Be careful not to damage threads
on end of driveshaft.
5. Remove strut lower mounting bolts, Fig. 2.
6. Loosen lower ball joint nut, then separate lower ball joint from knuckle.
7. Remove right driveshaft as shown in Figs. 3 and 4.
8. On models with manual transaxle, remove left driveshaft as shown in Fig. 5.
9. On models with automatic transaxles, remove left driveshaft using a suitable tool placed on driveshaft end through differential housing, as
shown in Fig. 6. Do not damage pinion mate shaft and side gear.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Install new oil seals.
b. Protect oil seal using seal protector tool No. KV38106700, or equivalent.
c. Ensure to properly align serrations when installing driveshaft.
d. Ensure circular clip engages into clip groove of side gear.
e. Tighten wheel bearing locknut to specifications, then check axial endplay as outlined under Wheel Bearing.
