APPLIED VEHICLE(S):
1995-96 Sentra/200SX (B14)
SERVICE INFORMATION
If a "shudder" or "chatter" is present when the front door windows (power or manual operation) of a 1995-96 Sentra or 200SX vehicle are rolled
downward, use the following procedure to reduce this incident.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Verify the condition as explained by the customer.
2.
Remove the door finisher and observe the window regulator as the window is rolled downward. Look particularly for movement in the cables.
3.
If the window regulator cables exhibit "shudder" motion along with the window operation, apply tension with your hands at the centers of the
upper and lower cable housings while rolling the window up and down.
4.
If the shudder incident does not occur while holding the cables in tension:
Figure 1
A.
Connect tie wraps to apply permanent tension on the window regulator cables to dampen any cable movement. Do not apply more than 5
lbs. of force. You may have to use more than one tie wrap per cable in order to reach a convenient attachment point (see Figure 1).
B.
Check the window run rubbers and the window for dirt or contamination. Clean as necessary and lubricate with a non-staining silicone
lubricant.
5.
Test several more times to make sure the shudder does not recur.
