Evaporator Core: Service and Repair
When replacing evaporator, add 2.7 oz. of new refrigerant oil on 300ZX or 2.4 oz. on all other models.

Disconnect battery ground cable and discharge A/C system.
2.
Disconnect refrigerant lines to evaporator, and plug lines and open fittings.
3.
Remove screws securing right hand lower dash panel and cluster lid "B", Fig. 1, then remove panels.
4.
Disconnect wiring harness connectors to evaporator case and disconnect evaporator drain hose.
5.
Remove 3 screws securing evaporator case and remove case assembly.
6.
Remove clips securing evaporator case and separate case.
7.
Remove thermo control sensor from evaporator core.
8.
Remove evaporator from case.
9.
Remove insulation from expansion valve temperature sensor and disconnect sensor.
10.
Disconnect and remove expansion valve and suction throttling valve, if equipped.
11.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Make sure that expansion valve and thermo control sensors are properly installed.
b. Evacuate and recharge system, then check for leaks.
