Bumper Cover Preparation PUR or PP

1.

Wash with soap and water and 2319S Plastic Prep.

2.

Sand thoroughly with # 400 - # 600 grit paper or scuff pad.

3.

Remove sanding sludge and eliminate static with 23195 Plastic Prep.
To ensure all of the mold release agent is removed, you can:
Temper the raw plastic at 140 F for 45 minutes to get rid of mold release agents (do not sand after tempering), then remove mold release agents
with 23195.

Coating PUR (polyurethane) or PP (polypropylene) bumper covers

4.

Apply 23225 according to label directions (to ensure adhesion).

5a.

Apply light coats of URO Prime 1120S with 9250S Flexible Additive (for surfacing).
OR

5b.

Apply 1 coat of Prime 'N Seal (for sealing).

6a.

Basecoat/Clearcoat Procedures

1.

Topcoat with Chroma Base Basecoat according to label directions.

2.

Clearcoat Chroma Base Basecoat with Chroma Clear High Glamour 78005 or Chroma Clear MULTI Use 7500S.

6b.

NON Basecoat/Clearcoat Procedures
Topcoat with Chroma One Single Stage according to label direction.

BASF Glasurit Procedure

Bumper Cover Preparation PUR or PP

1.

Pre-baking the bumper cover at 140°F for 45 minutes will improve adhesion.

2.

Wash the bumper cover with soap and water.

3.

Dry with paper towel and lint-free cloth.

4.

Wash with Glasurit 541-30 Universal Plastic Cleaner to remove wax, silicone and contaminates. Dry with paper towel.

5.

Scuff the entire bumper cover with gray Scotchbrite pad.

6.

Wash off residue with 541-30.

7.

Allow to dry completely with lint-free cloth.

Coating PUR (polyurethane) bumper covers

8.

Apply 1 thin uniform coat of Glassofix 934-0 1K Plastic Adhesion Primer.

9.

Allow 15 to 20 minute flash time.

10.

Apply Glasurit L-21 or L-54 to hiding. In the case of L-21, use 40 volume parts of Glassodur 521-111 Elastifier Additive according to procedure.

11.

In the case of L-54, allow 15 to 20 minutes flash time.

12.

Apply either Glassodur 923-54 or 923-85 with 20 volume parts Glassodur 521-111 Elastifier Additive according to label directions (or compliant
clear for VOC regulated areas).

Coating PP (polypropylene) bumper covers

8.

Apply 1 thin uniform coat of Glassodur 285-0 2K Transparent Filler.

9.

Allow 15 to 20 minute flash time.

10.

Apply a thin coat of Glassodur 285-75 Tintable Primer if necessary.

11.

Apply Glasurit L-21 or L-54 to hiding. In the case of L-21, use 40 volume parts of Glassodur 521-111 Elastifier Additive according to procedure.

12.

In the case of L-54 allow 15 to 20 minutes flash time.

13.

Apply either Glassodur 923-54 or 923-85 with 20 volume parts Glassodur 521-111 Elastifier Additive according to label directions (or compliant
clear for VOC regulated areas).

Herberts Standox Procedure

Bumper Cover Preparation PP (polypropylene)

1.

Bake for 60 minutes at l40°F (60°C) to temper the plastic.

2.

Clean the product several times using a Gray Scotchbrite pad and Standoflex 11100 Thinner anti-static cleaner (use a clean pad and fresh thinner
with each cleaning.).

3.

Allow to dry completely.

4.

As a final clean before priming, use fresh Standoflex 11100 Thinner anti-static cleaner with a clean towel.
