Fig. 32 - Air Induction Valve Case
Air induction Valve Case
The case consists of two reed valves, a rubber seal, and a filter, and is attached to the air cleaner.
There are two types of air induction valve cases;
-
1980 200SX and 510--Fig 30--equipped with two hose connectors.
-
1980 510--Fig 31--as well as 1980 Pickup except California--Fig 32--equipped with one connector
Air Induction Valve
1978 B210 and 1979 210 models with 5-speed transmission, 1979 810, 1980 210 and 1980 310 incorporate a one reed valve type check valve.
All other models use a two reed valve type check valve.
-
When exhaust pressure is below atmospheric pressure, air passes through the valves and is sent to the exhaust manifold.
-
When exhaust pressure is above atmospheric pressure, valve(s) close preventing secondary air from being sent back to the air cleaner.
Air Induction Pipe
Secondary air is fed to the exhaust manifold from the air induction valves through the EIA tube (air induction pipe).
Fig. 17 - Anti-Backfire Valve
Anti-Backfire (AB) Valve
The anti-backfire valve used on some systems--Fig 17--functions the same as that used in the air injection system.
