Crankshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Camshaft/Crankshaft Position Sensor Test

1.

Remove the crank angle sensor from the engine.

2.

Disconnect all of the ignition wires from the distributor cap and turn the ignition switch ON.

3.

Using a volt meter, check voltage between terminal 1 and ground while rotating it slowly.
Voltage should fluctuate between 0 and 5 VDC.

4.

Using a volt meter, check voltage between terminal 2 and ground while rotating it slowly.
Voltage should fluctuate between 0 and 5 VDC.
Replace the sensor if it fails the above test.
NOTE: This test may set Code 11. Be sure to clear the ECU 's memory after repairs are finished.
