SERVICE INFORMATION
Some of the Applied models manufactured from October, 1988 to October, 1989 may exhibit exhaust odor (sulfur smell) during operation. If a customer
complains of this odor, perform the following service inspection procedures to determine the cause.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Inspect these Engine Control Components to verify that they are properly adjusted, using the Service Manual for specification and adjustment
procedures.
^
Idle Speed ^ AIV Operation
^
Throttle Switch Adjustment ^ CO Inspection
2.
If these components are within specification, perform self-diagnosis to verify proper mixture ratio feedback control (Mode II) and confirm the all
clear code (55) in Mode III. If self-diagnosis codes other than 55 are stored in Mode III, perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure to repair the
incident.
3.
If self-diagnosis indicates proper mixture ratio feedback and engine control components are adjusted and operating properly, replace the ECU, air
cleaner assembly and air intake resonator with the new parts listed in the table on the following page.
