Air Door Position Sensor / Switch: Testing and Inspection

Blower control rheostat is located on RH side of heater assembly, and is accessible after instrument panel is removed.

1.

Disconnect wiring harness connector to rheostat and connect ohmmeter to rheostat terminals on component connector, Fig. 86.

2.

Operate air mix door through range manually while observing meter.

3.

With mix door in fully open or closed position, meter should read 1000 ohms; with door in 1/2 open position, meter should read 100 ohms.  Meter
needle should move smoothly without, jumping or hesitation.
