Under normal vehicle use, it is not necessary to replace differential oil. Inspect for oil leakage every 12 months or 20,000 km (12,000 miles).

Under severe use, such as towing a trailer, replace the differential oil every 12 months or 20,000 km (12,000 miles).

SERVICE OIL SPECIFICATIONS Normal differential gear oil (API GL-5 and SAE 80W-90) is recommended.

Trouble-shooting and Diagnoses
Customer complaint:

Rear wheels slip and remain stuck in mud or on snowy roads.

CHECK (A) : Check viscous limited slip differential function.
1.

Drive vehicle to warm up differential oil.

2.

Stop engine.

3.

Lift both rear wheels off the ground.

4.

Shift transmission gear into neutral. Release parking brake.

5.

Turn the left wheel in the forward direction in a quick motion.

6.

If both rear wheels turn in the same direction simultaneously, viscous limited slip differential is functioning. CAUTION:

Do not run engine for more than a minute when one wheel (rear) is off the ground or spinning freely.
