Valve Guide Seal: Service and Repair

CAMSHAFT OIL SEAL

1.

Remove timing belt as described under ``Timing Belt, Replace.''

2.

Remove camshaft sprockets, then the camshaft oil seal.

3.

Reverse procedure to install. Apply clean engine oil to seal prior to installation.

VALVE OIL SEAL

1.

Remove components necessary for valve cover removal.

2.

Remove valve cover, then the rocker shaft assembly and valve lifters with valve guide.

3.

Remove valve springs, retainer and collets using a suitable valve spring compressor.

4.

Remove valve oil seal using suitable pliers.

5.

Reverse procedure to install. Apply clean engine oil to seal prior to installation. Clearance between oil seal and valve spring seat should measure
.091 inch, Fig. 7.
