    The vehicle speed sensor transmits a vehicle speed signal to the electronic control unit. On models equipped with mechanical speedometer, the sensor
consists of a reed switch, Fig. 49, which transforms vehicle speed into a pulse signal. On models equipped with electronic speedometer, the speed sensor,
Fig. 50, consists of a Light Emitting Diode (LED), photo diode, shutter and wave forming circuit and operates similarly to the crank angle sensor.
