VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN - FUEL INJECTORS AND HOSES
ALTERNATE PROCEDURE FOR PERFORMING RESISTANCE CHECK

This bulletin is a supplement to NTB96-010a and NTB96-052 and contains revised Service Procedures and Parts Information. Refer to NTB96-010a and
NTB96-052 for complete campaign information.

SERVICE INFORMATION

If the negative battery cable is damaged or corroded, you may not be able to remove and reinstall it during the service campaign. If this occurs, the
fusible links for the injector circuit, ignition switch, battery/alternator and EFI can be disconnected instead of disconnecting the negative battery cable as
indicated in NTB96-010a and in NTB96-052.

Since the battery is still connected to the vehicle, an alternate procedure is necessary to perform the injector circuit resistance test described on pages
12/43 and 20/43 in NTB96-010a and page 12/26 in NTB96-052. This test must be performed from the negative battery terminal to the harness side of
the injector fusible link (with the injector fusible link still removed).

If the fusible link is damaged during this procedure, it must be replaced with the correct genuine Nissan part. Never wrap a fusible link with vinyl tape.
Extreme caution should be taken with the fusible links to ensure that they do not come into contact with any other wiring harness, vinyl or rubber
components.

SERVICE PROCEDURE - MAXIMA

If the negative battery cable is damaged or corroded, and cannot be removed and reinstalled correctly, disconnect the following fusible links (see
Figure 1):

When step 3 in NTB96-010a is reached, perform the following procedure:

Place one ohmmeter probe in the harness side of the fusible link connector (connector 56M) and touch the W/L wire terminal. Place the other
ohmmeter probe to the negative battery post.
