Raise vehicle all the way up on hoist. Disconnect steering shaft lower joint 12 mm bolt.

Remove 12 mm pinch bolt on upper end of the steering shaft. Slide shaft upward to remove lower joint from steering gear, then reinstall 12 mm
bolt on upper end of shaft to retain position of the steering shaft.

9.

Place drain pan under steering gear. Remove high pressure and return lines with 17 mm fitting wrench. See illustration.

NOTE:

Bleed system of excess fluid by moving rack lock to lock twice.

10.

Remove cylinder tube pressure line that runs from the pinion housing to the far right of the steering rack cylinder.

NOTE:

Retaining clips for the breather tube (flexible rubber hose) must be removed before the cylinder tube pressure line can be removed.

11.

Remove the 17 mm steering gear clamp bolts at both clamps using a flexhead ratchet.

12.

Remove steering rack by sliding it out toward driver's side of the vehicle.
