When rebuilding an engine or installing a new clutch assembly the clutch pushrod must be checked to avoid possible premature failure of the main
bearings.
After the primary gear cover assembly has been installed, use a caliper to measure the distance between the edge of the cover and the top of the piston, as
illustrated. If the correct pushrod is installed, the distance will be between .020" and .098" (.5-2.5mm).
Pushrods are available in three different lengths, as shown in the table. Two of them are identified by notches of different lengths: measure the length of
the notch to ensure that you have selected the correct size.
