Tighten rear cover locknut to 78-98 N-m (58-72 ft.lbs.). Remove cellophane tape and install rear cover cap.

Apply a coat of grease to contact surfaces of retainer (Figure 21) and install retainer, holder, spring, retainer adjusting screw and locknut. Fully
tighten adjusting screw, then loosen 20 to 25 degrees and tighten locknut to 39-59 N-m (29 - 43 ft.lbs.). Measure pinion rotating torque (Figure 22)
(average torque should be less than 7.8 in.lbs. and never more than 13.0 in-lbs.) and rack starting force (Figure 23) (should be 27.6 - 41.9 lbs.). If
they are not within specification, readjust retainer adjusting screw and/or rear housing cover assembly.

Connect cylinder tubes to rear housing and tighten flare nuts to 39-49 N-m (29-36 ft.lbs.).
