Corrective Action

Type II

Replace the propeller shaft with a modified propeller shaft assembly. The center bearing insulator can be replaced independently if the modified
propeller shaft is not available. (If only the insulator is replaced, the propeller shaft unbalance may increase after overhaul. Therefore, it may then be
necessary to rebalance the propeller shaft.)

NOTE:

Do not use a modified center bearing insulator on a Maxima Wagon, as there may be interference between the propeller shaft joint and the
center brake cable bracket, under certain driving conditions.

If a modified propeller shaft on the new center bearing insulator is not available, use the following procedure.

^Install shims in the center bearing insulator until the vibration is acceptable. (See Fig. 2).
