Malfunction Indicator Lamp: Description and Operation

MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP

Description

The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) is located on the combination meter.

The MIL will light up when the ignition switch is turned ON before the READY operation light comes on. This is a bulb check.

When the ignition switch is turned ON (READY) and READY operation light turns on, the MIL should go off. If the MIL remains on, the on board
diagnostic system has detected a system malfunction.
