Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation of Rear Oil Seal
REMOVAL
1. Remove oil pan (upper).
2. Remove the transaxle.
3. Remove flywheel (MT) or drive plate (AT).
4. Use a seal cutter to cut away liquid and remove rear oil seal retainer.
CAUTION:

Be careful not to damage mounting surface.

If rear oil seal retainer is removed, replace it with a new one.
NOTE: Rear oil seal and retainer form a single part and are handled as an assembly.
INSTALLATION
1. Remove oil liquid gasket on mating surface of cylinder block and oil pan using a scraper.
2. Apply liquid gasket to rear oil seal retainer using tube pressure as shown.

Use Genuine Silicone RTV Sealant or equivalent..

Assembly should be completed within 5 minutes after coating.
3. Install rear oil seal retainer to cylinder block.
Rear oil seal retainer mounting bolts: 8.2 - 9.3 Nm (0.83 - 0.95 kg-m, 72 - 82 inch lbs.)
4. Installation of the remaining components is in reverse order of removal.
