Front Cross-Member: Service and Repair

FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER 
Removal and Installation 

REMOVAL 
1. Remove the steering knuckle from the vehicle.
2. Remove the front exhaust tube from the vehicle using power tool.
3. Remove the bracket of steering oil piping from the suspension member.
4. Remove the high-pressure and low-pressure piping from the steering gear.
5. Remove pinch bolts on the lower side of the lower joint of the steering gear, then mark the lower joint and the steering gear with paint to mate

them.

6. Set a transmission jack on the engine.
7. Remove the center member from the vehicle using power tool.

Refer to: Engine; Service and Repair; Procedures.

8. Remove the transverse link from the suspension member using power tool.
9. Remove mounting bolts from the member pin stay on the vehicle body side using power tool.

10. Set a transmission jack on the suspension member, then remove mounting nuts from the suspension member using power tool.
11. Lower the transmission jack slowly, then remove the suspension member from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION

Installation should be performed in the reverse order of the removal procedure.

After installation is completed, perform the following:
-

Tighten each part with vehicle on ground under complete curb condition.

Check the wheel alignment.

Bleed air from the oil piping of the steering gear.
