You apply thread locker (such as Loctite Worldtech(TM) # 242 or equivalent) to the shift knob threads

Confirm the incident is resolved (no more clicking) by pressing the brake pedal:

When the vehicle is stopped.

When pushing the brake pedal while driving.

Drive the vehicle to make sure it shifts into all gears correctly, making sure there is no binding or interference in the shifter movement.
