Service Procedure
Install the Noise Damper Kit P/N 34998-3Z000 to the bottom side of the A/T shift assembly as follows:
NOTE:
Use appropriate covers to protect upholstery, carpet, etc. when performing the following procedure.
1.
Remove the A/T shift knob by turning it counter clockwise (see Figure 1).
NOTE:

Steps 2, 3 and 4 are for a 2002 vehicle.

On 2005 vehicles, the A/T shift selector bezel and the center console box are combined into one assembly. Refer to section IP in the 2005
Altima ESM.
2.
Remove the A/T shift selector bezel as follows:
