Brake Proportioning/Combination Valve: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION 

CAUTION:

Carefully monitor brake fluid level at master cylinder. Use new brake fluid DOT 3.

Be careful not to splash brake fluid on painted areas; it may cause paint damage. If brake fluid is splashed on paint areas, wash it away with water
immediately.

Depress pedal slowly when raising front brake pressure.

^

Check rear brake pressure two seconds after front brake pressure reaches specified value.

For models with Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), disconnect harness connectors from ABS actuator relay box before checking.

1. Connect tool to air bleeders of front and rear brakes on either LH or RH side.

2. Bleed air from the tool.

3. Check rear brake pressure by depressing brake pedal (increasing front brake pressure). If output pressure is out of specification, replace dual

proportioning valve (separated type) or master cylinder assembly (built-in type).

4. Bleed air after disconnecting the tool.
