1998-2000 ALTIMA BPT VALVE BRACKET BROKEN

SERVICE INFORMATION
If a rattle noise is heard under the hood of a 1998-2000 Altima built prior to the applied VIN, date, or engine number, the lower BPT bracket may be
broken, causing the BPT valve to rattle against the BPT tube or EGR valve.

A replacement lower BPT bracket and bolt is now available to correct the described condition, if it should occur. Use the procedure below to verify the
condition exists and replace the lower BPT bracket and bolt.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1.

Confirm the rattle noise exists.

2.

Confirm the lower BPT bracket is broken.

3.

Remove the BPT valve and upper bracket from the lower BPT bracket. Save the two upper bracket bolts that hold the BPT valve onto the lower
bracket for re-assembly later (see Figure 1).

4.

Remove the lower BPT bracket from the collector and discard the old lower bracket bolt.
