The creaking noise may be caused by the upper B-pillar body panels rubbing together as a result of body panel flexing (Figure 2).

Step 1 - Verify Type of Noise

If either a rattle or creaking noise is heard in the upper B-pillar area, the following procedure is recommended.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

Step 1 - Verify type of noise

Determine if the noise is a rattle or a creaking noise:

a.

Open front door.

b.

Lower the sliding door window.

c.

Grab the door sash at the upper B-pillar with both hands and shake.

If the procedure shown above produces a rattling noise then proceed to Step 2. If no rattling noise is heard, but further road testing still reveals a noise
(creaking), proceed to Step 3.
