SERVICE BATTERY FOR 1990 AXXESS

APPLIED VEHICLE(S): 
1990 Axxess (M11)

SERVICE INFORMATION
The original equipment battery in the 1990 Axxess (type 55D) is not available in the U.S. as a service part. Therefore, when replacing the battery, use the
Nissan Service Battery type 24F P/N 99996-00089. NOTE: Do not install the heavy duty 24F battery (P/N 999M1-AA000) as increased idle vibration
may result.

Install the replacement battery according to the following Service Procedures:

SERVICE PROCEDURE

All 2WD and 4WD M/T

1.

Remove the original battery and replace as usual.

4WD A/T

1.

Remove the original battery.

2.

Remove the plastic battery tray from under the battery.

3.

Using a utility knife or similar tool, carefully remove the two plastic spacers located at one end of the tray by slipping the blade under the spacers
and cutting the plastic "spot welds" (see illustration).

CAUTION: 

Be careful not to cut any holes in the tray, as this may allow battery acid to leak out under the tray, causing corrosion on adjacent components.

4.

Reinstall the plastic tray and install the service battery (24F).

5.

Secure the battery in the normal manner.
