Fig. 3 when servicing the rear driveshafts.
DISASSEMBLY
1.
Disassemble the differential end of the rear driveshaft as follows:
a. Remove boot bands.
b. Put alignment marks in slide joint housing and driveshaft before separating joint assembly.
c. Put alignment marks on spider assembly and driveshaft.
d. Pry off snap ring, then remove spider assembly.
Do not disassemble spider assembly.
e. Cover driveshaft serrations with suitable tape then remove boot.
2.
Remove boot bands of wheel side of rear driveshaft.
3.
Place alignment marks on joint and driveshaft.
4.
Using a slide hammer to remove joint form rear driveshaft.
Wheel side joint cannot be disassembled.

ASSEMBLY
Wheel Side
1.
Cover driveshaft serrations with suitable tape then install boot and new small boot band on driveshaft.
2.
Align mating marks then install joint assembly on driveshaft by lightly tapping.
3.
Pack driveshaft boot and joint with 4.06-4.41 oz of grease.
4.
Install boot so that it does not swell and deform when its length is 3.563-3.642 inches,

5.
Lock new boot bands securely.
Differential Side
1.
Cover driveshaft serrations with suitable tape then install boot and new small boot band on driveshaft.
2.
Align mating marks then install spider assembly on driveshaft.
3.
Install new snap ring.
4.
Align mating marks then install slide joint housing on driveshaft.
