Gear Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair
Removal And Installation

POSITION SWITCH

Removal and Installation

REMOVAL
1. Remove air duct (inlet).  See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Tune-up and Engine Performance Checks/Air Cleaner Housing/Service and

Repair/Removal And Installation.

2. Remove battery.  See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Removal And Installation.
3. Remove clips from the air cleaner case and air duct.  See: Manual Transmission/Transaxle/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Air

Breather Hose/Removal And Installation.

4. Remove air cleaner case and air ducts.  See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Tune-up and Engine Performance Checks/Air Cleaner

Housing/Service and Repair/Removal And Installation.

5. Remove bracket (1).

Arrow Indicates : Vehicle front

6. Disconnect position switch connector.
7. Remove position switch from transaxle case.

INSTALLATION
1. Apply recommended sealant to threads of position switch.
-

Use Genuine Silicone RTV or an equivalent. See: Specifications/Fluid Type Specifications.

CAUTION:
Remove old sealant and oil adhering to threads.
2. Install position switch to transaxle case.
3. Tighten position switch to the specified torque.  See: Manual Transmission/Transaxle/Service and Repair/Overhaul/Transmission

4. For the next step and after, install in the reverse order of removal.
