APPLIED MODELS: 1987 & 1988 4WD Truck/Pathfinder with A/T

SERVICE INFORMATION

When removing the transmission/transfer case on 1987 4WD Truck/Pathfinders with automatic transmission, a new adapter plate (J-37296-1) must be
used with the transmission jack adapter (GP8600), to help support the heavier transmission. On 1988 4WD A/T models a new transmission jack adapter
(J-37296-2) should be used. (Adapter plate is not needed.)

SERVICE PROCEDURE

For 1987 Models

1.

Mount the transmission/transfer case adapter (Special Tool GP8600) to the transmission jack plate using shop bolts (Figure 1).

2.

Place the adapter plate P/N J-37296-1, over the adapter, sliding it over peg (A) (Figure 1).

If the four bolt-holes on the jack plate do not line up with the adapter, turn the adapter diagonally until two bolt-holes line up, and insert the bolts
(Figure 2).

NOTE:

The bolt-holes on the adapter are elongated to allow for line up with various types of jacks.
