Idle Speed: Adjustments

1.

Start the engine and warm it up until the water temperature indicator points to the middle of the gauge.

2.

Operate the engine at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes under no load.

3.

Race the engine 2 or 3 times under no load, then check the idle speed.
Idle speed should be:
M/T 750 ± 50 rpm.
A/T 750 ± 50 rpm (in "N" position).
If not proceed to step #4.

4.

Turn the engine off.

5.

Disconnect the throttle sensor connector (located on the throttle chamber).

6.

Start the engine and warm it up until the water temperature indicator points to the middle of the gauge.

7.

Operate the engine at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes under no load.

8.

Race the engine 2 or 3 times under no load, then idle.

Adjust idle speed to 650 rpm (in "N" position) by turning the idle speed adjusting screw on the idle air adjusting unit (located on the throttle
chamber).
WARNING: Do not turn the throttle stop screw, it is preset at the factory and does not require adjustment. Tampering with the throttle stop screw
will damage the throttle chamber.

10. Turn the engine off.
11. Reconnect the throttle sensor.
12. Proceed to step #1.
