Throttle Cable/Linkage: Adjustments

Accelerator Pedal And Throttle Cable

1.

Start and warm the engine to operating temperature.

2.

Turn the engine off.

3.

With light pressure, check the accelerator pedal deflection before the throttle valve starts to open.

a. If there is 0.04 - 0.12 in. (1 - 3 mm) of deflection, the clearance is correct. END TEST.
b. If there is not 0.04 - 0.12 in. (1 - 3 mm) of freeplay, proceed to step 4.

4.

Loosen the adjusting nuts at the throttle chamber.

5.

Turn the adjustment nuts until the freeplay is correct.

6.

Torque the nuts to 5.8 - 7.2 ft.lbs. (8 - 10 N-m, 0.8 - 1.0 kg/m).
