Vehicle Speed Sensor: Component Tests and General Diagnostics

Vehicle Speed Sensor Test

1.

Remove instrument cluster.

2.

Disconnect the speedometer cable.

3.

Using an ohm meter, check continuity across terminals as shown while turning sensor with a small screwdriver.
Continuity should open and close twice per revolution.
Replace sensor if it fails the above test.
