Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1.

Turn the ignition key off.

2.

Disconnect the idle switch and throttle sensor connectors.

3.

Remove the 2 bolts securing the unit to the throttle chamber and remove the unit.

INSTALLATION AND ADJUSTMENT
1.

Install the unit to the throttle shaft, aligning the flat area on the shaft with the flat area on the unit.

2.

Install the screws and tighten slightly.

3.

Start and warm the engine to operating temperature.

AAC Valve Sub-Harness

4.

Disconnect the AAC valve sub-harness connector.

Idle Switch Terminals

5.

Connect an ohm meter or continuity tester between terminals A and B.

6.

Connect a tachometer to the engine.

7.

Raise the engine rpm to 2000 rpm and slowly lower to idle.

8.

Confirm that continuity does not exist until the engine speed is 250 ± 150 rpm ABOVE idle speed in neutral.

9.

If not within specified range, loosen the two securing screws and rotate switch until within range.

10. Tighten screws and recheck.
11. Reconnect the AAC valve and idle switch connectors.
