Fit the square end of the jack rod into the square hole in the wheel nut wrench to form a handle.

Find the oval-shaped opening under the middle of the tailgate, then.

Pass the "T-shaped" end of the jack rod though the opening and direct it toward the spare tire "winch", located directly above the spare
tire (see Figure 1).

Seat the "T-shaped" end of the jack rod into the slotted opening of the spare tire winch (see Figure 1).

Apply forward pressure to keep it connected and turn the winch counterclockwise to lower the spare tire to the ground.

^

Once the tire is on the ground, remove the retainer chain and slide the spare out from under the vehicle.

Use appropriate equipment to:

Remove the spare tire from the wheel

^

Install a new valve stem in the new spare wheel

^

Install the existing tire on the new spare wheel

^

Inflate the spare tire/wheel according to the tire pressure information on the "Tire Placard" affixed to the inside of the glove box lid (on the
vehicle you are working on).

Balance the spare tire/wheel assembly

Re-install the spare tire/wheel assembly under the vehicle in the reverse order it was removed.

4.

Put the jack rod back in its original location, making sure it is securely inserted into the plastic holding clips to prevent any rattles or noises.

5.

Put the wheel nut wrench back in the tool case. Put the tool case in its original location.
