Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair

REAR OIL SEAL 

1. Remove the flywheel or drive plate. 
2. Remove the rear oil seal retainer.
3. Remove the rear oil seal from the retainer.

CAUTION:  Be careful not to scratch the rear oil seal retainer.

4. Apply new engine oil to the new oil seal.
5. Position the new oil seal as shown

6. Install the new oil seal using a suitable tool
7. Install the rear oil seal retainer with a new gasket on the cylinder block.

CAUTION:  Always use a new oil seal retainer gasket.

8. Install the remaining components in the reverse order of removal.
